Your Pediatrician or Family Doctor Can Advise You
Seek the advice of your pediatrician or family doctor with your concerns about minimally invasive surgery versus conventional surgery. He or she can contact us with any questions that you have that cannot be immediately answered.
Scheduling Department
We can set up a consultation with you and your pediatrician or family doctor. Office hours vary by location. Office hours are held at the Children's Hospital site Monday-Wednesday and Friday 9am to 12pm, Amherst office Thursday 1pm to 4pm, Orchard Park office Wednesday 1pm to 4pm, and Batavia office Monday 1pm to 3pm. Ask your pediatrician to schedule an appointment with any of our physicians.

In the event that you visit us for a consultation , or if your child is scheduled for surgery at the Miniature Access Surgery Center, here are some procedures to follow.
Registration
All patients must register when they come in. Any referral and insurance information will be collected at this time and you will be asked to complete a patient evaluation form.
Parking
Parking the Children's Hospital of Buffalo will cost a maximum of $3.75 per day. Unfortunately, we are unable to validate parking, as the ramp is owned by the city, not the hospital. All other locations provide free parking.
X-ray Services
If your child has had X-rays or tests prior to the office visit, please be sure to bring them with you, or check with our office to see if we have obtained a copy of the results. (This will help to prevent any delay in your appointment)
Hospital Admissions and Surgery Scheduling
If your doctor recommends surgery or a hospital admission, his staff will make the arrangements for you. It will be necessary for you to complete and sign any forms prior to ending the visit.
Calls with Questions or Prescription Refills
Please fully explain your problem or concern to the individual answering the call and he/she will direct it to the appropriate individual. Most calls will be directed to our Nurse practitioner or a surgery fellow who will call you back within 30 minutes. If you do not get a response within 30 minutes, please call our office back.
After Hours
Our offices are staffed 24 hours a day 7 days a week, including holidays. If you have an emergency, our telephones are staffed by an answering service and the message is relayed to a doctor on call. If someone does not call you back within 30 minutes, please call again.
Payment Policy/Insurance
We appreciate payment, including any co-pays or deductibles for services at the time they are rendered. We participate with most insurance plan, and HMO's. If you have any questions regarding your insurance, please verify with our office prior to your visit. Most insurance companies require a referral to our office, please ensure you have obtained one from your child's pediatrician or family doctor prior to the visit. If you fail to obtain a referral, you may be held responsible for payment.
