Providing a state-of-the art minimally invasive surgery (MIS) alternative for infants and children so that they, and their parents, will benefit from decreased postoperative pain and complications, very small incisions with no scarring, faster recovery time, and shorter hospital stays.

Miniature access research

Researching and teaching pediatric surgeons on new techniques for the miniaturization of surgery in infants, children and adolescents, as well as carrying out clinical trials of minimally invasive surgical (MIS) techniques.

The Miniature Access Surgery Center (MASC) and Miniature Access Surgery Teaching, Training and Research Center (MASTTAR) are made possible through grants from the Children's Hospital of Buffalo Foundation, Stryker Communications Corporation, and Ethicon EndoSurgical.
